Chef! I would love to see you revisit this in a new video. Pretty please?

  • belugasmith - 1 month ago

Only Americans would get all pissy if someone takes the time to tell them the proper pronunciation of a foreign word. I guess it really is “a thing” to be proud of being stupid! Yeah, we say “foe” but God forbid we should sound educated and cosmopolitan enough to pronounce it as its meant to be said! You owe those who speak the language and tried to help an apology you ethnocentric asses!

I am allergic to cinnamon. What spice would I substitute? Nutmeg?

  • alohathaxted - 1 month ago

I would have scorched the onion and the ginger for a bit, then taken them out to brown the meat.

    I am Chinese btw.

I enjoy seeing this noodles soup being made. But I don't know if anyone had mentioned to you about slurping. Actually for Chinese people, it is considered impolite and offensive to slurp. But it is a right thing to do for Japanese.

No oxtail, No cayenne, No chopsticks. Just sad. :(

  • Heart Under Construction - 3 months ago

Can you do an updated version of this WITH THE OXTAILS? Cos you could be the Bill Burr of your Vietnamese Pho!

  • Hades - 3 months ago

I always wonder, why not do the noodles in a broth you'll be eating instead of water? It'd add to the flavor of the noodles.

  • Marcus Kloepping - 5 months ago

Please please make another, more in-depth version. Please.

Chef John please make an updated version haha

  • Irma - 8 months ago

To the people who keep saying that he pronounced it wrong... 1. Nobody actually cares, we all know what he means. And 2... try to name a few dutch dishes correctly and if you do it slightly wrong, aparently everyone is allowed to bash on you. So be my guest

The good thing is that chef john teaches cooking and not Foreign languages. So try to thank him for this recipe.

you forgot lemongrass and other stuff

  • Adriano Andrade - 10 months ago

Wait, if all you need to cook the noodles was pouring hot water, couldn't you just pour hot soup over the raw noodle? That would possibly make the noodle taste better, because it would absorb the broth, not just plain water. I could be wrong, but it looks like this kind of noodle is perfect for soups.

Chopsticks: I was camping one time and needed utensils, that I did not have. I just whittled a couple of chop sticks and I was good to go.

  • Cryzpin Vega - 11 months ago

Chef, I made your Faux Pho twice already - once with root veg (carrot, celery root, parsley root) and once without and I must say it's missing the root veg quite a bit. Anyway, love the channel, great stuff.
